March 2016 Newsletter
This is your first GCSE newsletter ahead of your exams in the Summer of 2017. In this edition you will find information on your upcoming Trial Exams, Work Experience, Senior Student applications and a reminder about SAM learning.

Year 10 Trial Exams

There are now only 18 school days (16 if you are a Geography student heading to Lulworth Cove!) prior to the start of the Year 10 Trial Exam Season.

Make sure you take a break over the Easter holidays but also find time to start your revision (if you are yet to do so). If you work really hard and do poorly because of exam technique or nerves we will be able to tell from the trial exams and help. If you do not try, we won't know where to start. Your teachers will also use the trial exam results to inform them of your strengths and weaknesses to that they know what to concentrate on in future lessons. In some subjects the trial exam results will also be used to help re-group classes.

Senior Students

Thank you to everyone that has applied to become a senior student. We will be reviewing applications this week prior to holding interviews during the first week next term.

Work Experience

The vast majority of you have already returned your Students Application Form (SAF) with more than 20 of you also having returned your Student Own Placement Form (SOP).  The Easter break is a great opportunity for you to visit potential employers regarding a work experience placement with the deadline for returning your SOP coming shortly after your return in term 5. Don't forget you can find out further information about work experience and future careers via the school careers site:

SAM learning

Many of you have now already completed 10 hours of revision on SAM learning - well done. Please remember that this is a great resource to support your revision for the trial exams with just 10 hours of revision on SAM learning shown to improve your GCSE results! Login using the below:
